John Forbes 1950–1998
Tenth anniversary reading on 2 Feb 2008, at Gleebooks in Sydney

John Forbes

Saturday 2 Feb 2008: 3:30 for 4pm
Upstairs at Gleebooks
49 Glebe Point Rd, Glebe.
Cost: Free. Refreshments provided.

This is the original announcement for the event: It is now over a decade since the death of one of Australia’s most subtle, ironic and brilliant poets, John Forbes, on 23 January 1998, at the age of 47. To mark the anniversary John’s fellow poets, his family, friends and fans as well as anyone interested in poetry, is invited to come and celebrate John's life and work.

Please note: before and after the formal part of the event, Liz Allen and Nathan Garvey will conduct some casual video interviews about John Forbes with anyone who would like to say something for posterity, for the APRIL project: http://april.edu.au/

Apologies: John’s long-time friend Steve Kelen can’t make it; his son is unwell and needs daily care. Steve sends greetings to all and apologies.
